Scott Farley on Awkward Threesomes and the Art of Baking

Scott Farley, who brings the character Lucian to life in the web series "Settle Down," opens up about his favorite scenes, his passion for baking, and the personal experiences that influence his portrayal. Scott's candid and humorous insights offer a glimpse into his process and connection with his character.

What's your favorite scene in "Settle Down" and why?

Obviously, the scene where a tall drink of water joins a sexy couple for a threesome. It’s pumped full of passion and absolutely dripping with awkwardness. The mix of excitement and cringe-worthy moments makes it a standout scene. It's such a vivid depiction of how desire and real-life complications often collide, creating a memorable, funny, and slightly uncomfortable experience for everyone involved.

How would you describe "Settle Down" to a friend in one sentence?

It’s a gay "Sex and the City." This show brings the same level of humor, drama, and heart to the modern dating scene, but with a fresh and queer perspective that makes it both relatable and groundbreaking.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not acting?

I love to bake! There’s something about kneading a ball of dough that really gets those endorphins flowing. Baking is my therapy; it's a creative outlet that lets me unwind and produce something delicious. From kneading dough to perfecting recipes, the entire process is both calming and rewarding. Plus, sharing baked goods with friends and family always brings a smile to their faces.

What's your go-to ritual or habit to get into character before a scene?

Right before the director calls action, I remind myself what I want as the character and then I try to achieve that. This simple yet effective technique helps me focus on my character's motivations and objectives, ensuring that I bring a genuine and dynamic performance to each scene.

Do you recognize any aspects of your own personality or experiences in the character you portray in the web series?

Well, considering my big moment in "Settle Down" is a cringe-worthy threesome, I have to say that I’ve been in a similar position… So I simply drew upon that experience. Haha. But honestly, Lucian is just a guy who knows what he wants… and THAT I can certainly relate to. Like Lucian, I'm straightforward and confident in going after what I desire, and I think that authenticity translates well on screen.
