Thomas Gough, who plays Patrick in the upcoming series "Settle Down," shares his thoughts on the role, his acting rituals, and more in this insightful interview.

What was your favorite scene in Settle Down, and why?
It's a bit challenging to pick a favorite. However, I’m particularly looking forward to Patrick’s first scene in August’s office. The dynamic between the characters in that setting is intriguing, and I think it’s going to be a memorable start for Patrick’s journey in the series.
How would you describe Settle Down to a friend?
I’d describe it as "a comedy about a gay matchmaking agency that looks like it's going to be a lot of fun." The concept is fresh, and the script is filled with humor and heart, which I think will resonate with many viewers.
Outside of acting, what is your favorite activity?
Acting is truly my passion, but beyond that, I also enjoy immersing myself in various forms of storytelling, whether it’s through reading, writing, or even just watching a compelling film. Each form helps me explore different perspectives and enhances my craft.
What's your go-to ritual or habit to get into character before a scene?
I always seek out the quietest place I can find and focus on what I’m about to do. This moment of solitude allows me to center myself and fully immerse in the character’s mindset and emotions. It’s about clearing the noise and honing in on the essence of the scene.
Do you recognize any aspects of your own personality or experiences in the character you portray in the web series?
Honestly, I don’t see much of myself in Patrick, especially not in the clothes they have planned for him! Patrick is quite distinct from me, which is part of the fun of acting – stepping into someone else’s shoes and bringing a unique character to life.
For fans eager to connect with you online, where can they find you?
For the few fans out there, you might try finding me on Facebook, though my account hasn’t been working properly lately. Email is another option, but fair warning, I almost never respond. If you’re inclined to be my fan, you might find more success – and certainly more enjoyment – in hobbies like macramé or collecting bottle caps.
